If you’re hosting your website at a hosting company, there may come a time when it’s not enough anymore. The hosting company will send you an email saying that you are using too much resources, and you need to move up to a dedicated server hosting.
The reason this happens is because when you get the basic package from a hosting company, they put you on a shared server. In other words, there are many many websites on a single server from different people, and you all share the server’s resources equally. As soon as one of you is using more than the rest which in return affects the performance of the rest of the websites on the server, the hosting company will immediately warn you that you have to move or they will cut down on your resources.
While a dedicated server hosting has a lot of advantages, its main disadvantage is the price. Dedicated hosting is very expensive. After browsing many hosting companies, it appears that most major hosting companies offer dedicated servers for about $140 a month.
The answer to that problem is making your own web server. In the next few blogs, I’ll go over how to go about doing that.
